Open, frequently damp situations in coastal areas or under light Eucalypt or Allocasuarina forest and occasionally inland on dry, stony hillsides up to 400m, north west, north east, Furneaux Group and east coast.

Small round capsules and flower stems turn from orange brown to light brown. seed is dark brown blackish or silvery-grey when mature. dry until capsules open then thresh lightly to extract seed
