Large, a few centimetres wide. The flowers are white and 5-petalled, with thin blue or purple lines on the inside of the petals, and borne on stems arising from the centre of the foliage.

Large herb with a rosette of oval to lance-shaped leaves. Distinctive because of its size compared with other gentians.

Habitat Notes
Tasmanian endemic. Found on the eastern part of the Central Plateau, and in alpine and subalpine treeless vegetation in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

General Notes
Propagated from seed. Cold storage is recommended for best results, although temperature and duration required is unknown. Not often cultivated, but would be suitable for growing in containers, particularly in moist but well-drained soils, with high organic matter. Suitable below powerlines.
