Small shrub with erect stems, bristly branchlets and lance-shaped, leathery leaves with serrated margins, 12-22mm long. The young leaves are covered with tiny, soft hairs; the older leaves are hairless and shiny.

Propagated from cuttings or seed, which is best kept in a container. Needs plenty of water, grows well in a well-composted, well-drained shady position. This species may be a hybrid between G. tasmanica and G. hispida. Suitable below powerlines.
