Grows in freshwater lagoons and marshes, as a terrestrial in damp soils or as an aquatic in water up to 60cm deep.

General Notes
Also grown by division. When water dries up, the plant may collapse but will regrow from the root. Good in poorly drained areas, such as ponds or pond edges. Suitable below powerlines.
