Collection is difficult as only a small amount of seed is ripe at any one time. seed is tanbrown and releases easily from the seed heads when ripe. collect heads, dry and extract unreleased seed by hand

Has germinated from seed which is immature (large and green) and sown soon after collection. This circumvents any possible dormancy. Fresh seed is vital. Prefers sun but will grow in semi-shade and responds to regular water during dry spells.
