Flowers have white petals and pink sepals, and occur singly in the upper leaf axils, on stalks up to 2cm long.

Form

Mat-forming, succulent herb with trailing main stems which root at the nodes, and erect lateral stems. Leaves are spoon-shaped to lance-shaped, reddish at the base, and about 3mm long and 1-1.5mm wide.

Habitat Notes

Littoral zone on coastal beach rock stacks, on humic sandy soils on rocky shores, and on thin peaty soil on beach pebbles, often near fresh water pools and runoff. Also occurs on Macquarie Island.

General Notes

Can be grown from seed, but collection is very time consuming. Smoke treatment improves results. Usually grown by division, which is very easy. Suitable below powerlines.
