Follicles, cone-shaped 12-18mm long with a short beak which is usually straight. seed, black with a terminal wing. collect only the older fruit (usually grey-brown) as immature seed will not ripen off the plant

Fruits should be dried and will usually open within 2-3 weeks of collection. If they don't, place in an oven at 80 to 100oC for 30 minutes with the door partly open. Usually germinates well from fresh seed. Do not sow on a hot day.
