Pods turn brittle and brown at maturity. each pod contains one or two seeds which become hard and turn from green to dark brown when mature. harvest close to maturity and dry in a warm area

Leavings pods attached to the branch appears to aid opening of the pod. Pods that do not open may need to be crushed to extract seed. Soak seed in hot water (just off the boil) for a few hours.
